The Socratic Seminar is a very helpful and useful learning tool. It makes the participants think about everything that is said and about what they are going to say. And the discussion can go in any direction and hit upon any topic and go very deep into that topic until it gets back on the main subject. I like that it is so open to change and that anything and everything has a chance to be talked about, it really broadens someones horizons walking into a room not knowing what to think is going to happen or what they are going to have to talk about. The only thing that i was not won over with was the participation. On some days some people would participate and the next day a different person would, and some people barely talked at all. I would like to hear everyones opinion on the topics that are discussed so i can get a new perspective from everyone. I found that the deisucussions normally went smoother then i thought they would. Everyone got along and we all discussed and debated our opinions with the respect for others. This mutual respect surprised me becuase I know that some people can get heated on some topics, and it is very easy to push some buttons when you get in deep conversations like that.
